Will there be a time when apps and games will be made in other way, not through coding but maybe a more visual approach?. Do You mate has this kind of query?, If yes then plz check the good answer right after this line:
Coding is just one part of making apps and games. The other parts are indeed way more visual – for example usually the first part is just drawing elements of the program structure on a whiteboard (or in Visio). There are even formal standards for such âdrawingsâ, like UML.
But, ultimately, when it comes to writing the detailed program behavior specification (sometimes called âsource codeâ), the visual approach is just too much clutter. Text is much more pleasant to look at, and much easier to navigate (on that level of detail that is required for this step). There are languages like LabVIEW or Unreal Engineâs Blueprints, but I doubt anybody much enjoys using them.
Thereâs also an interesting middle ground, called âprojectional editingâ – itâs still text, but the editor understands the structure, and allows you to have different views of it (called âprojectionsâ). You might want to check out Smalltalk (Squeak, Pharo).
