The iPhone was the first device to truly bring a mobile computing experience to something you could put in your pocket. No keyboard, no stylus, just a finger or two and you can do amazing things. Perhaps the most revolutionary thing was the fact it had apps. While the first iPhone did not have a way to extend the functionality through additional apps, it did take some familiar concepts from OS X and implement them in a new way on a device you could hold in your hand.

Since it integrated a phone, camera, and iPod into one device, it made it possible to carry around one device instead of several.
