Can people tell if a cake is made from a mix or from scratch?. Do You guys own that kind of inquiry?, If do then please check the good answer below this line:

I can, but it’s because I have a trained palate and do this every day. Most people cannot taste the difference.

I have been served box cakes several times over the years – some people will deliver the common speech “Oh sorry, I didn’t know I was going to serve dessert to a pastry cook, so…” and some people won’t bother.

I go into full cranky geeky baker mode when in a bar/restaurant and I ask to try someone’s dessert (I hardly ever order dessert) and it’s frozen industrial crap.

But cake mix tastes like baking soda, and there’s always this slightly metallic, slightly bitter aftertaste that is leftover from the several preservatives, colorings, dessicants, anti-molds and whatnot.

Box brownies always use really cheap chocolate powder, too, and you can taste the cheap oil in them – it coats the roof of your mouth with that resistant, persistent grease. Sometimes there’s hydrogenated fat in the mixes, and don’t even make me go there.

We at this web site hope if those solutions above could solve your question. Thank You So Much
